I strongly recommend you to check out ProjectOffice.net. It is a web 2.0 project management solution that offers some extensive functionalities, such as: time management, expense management, wikis, issue tracking…
ProjectOffice.net also has a desktop application that gives notifications from the system tray concerning the recent changes that happen.
However, if you are not a fan of desktop applications, you can always see these changes in the iGoogle, Netvibes, Pageflakes gadgets.

Great post! So many tools covered! BTW, have you checked this one? It’s a very cool project management service with far more better feature set than LiqudPlanner or Basecamp. It allows to build flexible hierarchies and it brings visisbility into project work.
